1   Link   1911 Society
In 1994, Pistolsmith, Richard Heinie, and then USPSA Illinois Section Coordinator, Russell Cluver, were discussing the amount of grumbling on about guns and equipment in general. After quite a lot of discussion, they came up with the idea of a match that would use only 1911 Single Stack Pistols.

Why? Because the 1911 Single Stack Government Model Pistol dominated I.P.S.C. And many other disciplines of shooting sports for years. They decided this match should be a shooting contest and not an equipment event.

IPSC shooting is dynamic and challenging, and one of the fastest growing shooting sports in the world today. Courses of fire utilize many aspects not found in the other more traditional shooting disciplines, such as movement by the shooter, drawing from the holster, moving targets, multiple targets, and the freedom for the shooter to solve the shooting problems presented by the stage design.

4   Link   Steel Challenge Shooting Association
The Steel Challenge Shooting Association is the membership organization chartered to grow and extend “speed-steel” shooting competition at the club level. It is the vehicle by which we intend to spread the “gospel” of steel shooting. Our vision is to build the SCSA into a network of affiliate clubs and individual members much as USPSA is structured. We are already finding non-USPSA clubs that have been shooting steel matches without the benefit of a supporting organization or that are excited to begin doing so.

5   Link   United States Practical Shooting Association
Practical shooting is a sport that evolved from experimentation with handguns used for self-defense. The researchers were an international group of private individuals, law enforcement officers, and military people generally operating independently of each other, challenging the then-accepted standards of technique, training practices, and equipment. The work was, for the most part, conducted for their own purposes without official sanction. Even so, what they learned changed the face of police and military training forever.

6   Link   National Rifle Association
Dismayed by the lack of marksmanship shown by their troops, Union veterans Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate formed the National Rifle Association in 1871. The primary goal of the association would be to "promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis," according to a magazine editorial written by Church.

13   Link   Louder than Words
Louder Than Words is an organization comprised of a few of America's finest custom pisolsmiths and some talented, dedicated people that believe as I do, that we should from time to time concentrate on something other than ourselves. A main purpose of the organization is to provide financial assistance to worthy entities. There are some pleasant side benefits to those who participate, and also to those who merely love fine guns and the craftsmanship that makes them masterpieces. The practitioners are afforded the opportunity to interact with their contemporaries both on the forum and through the experience of working together on the guns.
