Q: What's the difference between a Classic & Basic receivers?

A: The classic receiver mimics the original 1911 contours and cuts, where the basic receiver includes the A1 cuts, beveled magazines well, etc.


Q: Does Caspian offer 80% frames?

A: NO


Q: Does Caspian sell any MIM parts?

A: No, Our parts are high quality cast, forged, or barstock.


Q: Will Caspian fit my slide to my frame?

A: Caspian will fit Caspian slides to Caspian frames.


Q: Can frames be ordered with sequential serial numbers?

A: Yes, if they are the same model & material.


Q: What is the difference between a commander model and government size frame?

A: The dustcover is shorter on a commander. Also, the area where the recoil spring guide sits as well as the rails are cut back .078 on a commander receiver. Both frames take full size Government magazines.
NOTE: You shouldn't put a commander slide on a government frame. A true commander slide will have different slide stop notch location to accommodate the shorter cycle.


Q: Why do you prefer to machine your frames from cast blanks?

A: We are pledged to provide you with the strongest part at the best price. By using pre-heat treated blanks, we can offer a "forever" guarantee on out frames against cracking.

 

Technical Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How come my firing pin will not fit?

A: All Caspian slides regardless of caliber are drilled for .38s/9mm firing pins.


Q: How come my slide doesn't line up with the back of the receiver?

A: All Caspian slides are .030 to allow for custom blending to accommodate the many different barrels and receivers available.


Q: What kind of ejector do I use in my Commander/Officer slide?

A: All Caspian officer and commander slides regardless of caliber are cut for .38s/9mm ejectors.


Q: Why are Caspian firing pin holes higher than the original blueprint?

A: Over the years Gunsmiths are locking the barrels higher than the original 1911's. To accommodate the higher locked barrels Caspian slides have a Firing Pin hole that is .020 higher than original print.
